Every five years, all CORGI operatives have to sit & retake their "tests of
Competence" to enable them to receive their accreditation. Also, annually they
have an inspection visit from a CORGI assessor who will verify that basic safety
procedures are in place.
- Safety is Paramount.
- When CORGI operatives work on any Gas fitting they are expected to work
with safety in mind. Consequently they are taught the safest procedures to
be utilised in order to comply with all the Industry's safe practices
as well as be aware of any current Building Regulations in force.
- Ongoing Assessment.
- Throughout the period of accreditation the operative is assessed
annually by CORGI inspectors, so the quality of their work meets current
regulations and also their knowledge is up to date on Gas safety procedures.
- Appliance installation registration.
- All new or replacement Gas appliances need to be registered with the
Local Authority Building Control (LABC) who will inspect the work. This is a costly business
in both time and money. However certain CORGI businesses who have passed the
necessary qualification are allowed to SELF-CERTIFY their work to CORGI who
then notify the Local Authority Building Control.
